Q:
What areas does BirdsEyeSearch.com cover?
A:
We search the entire MLS database in the Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland, and we also cover much of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware. We use the same database that "Realtor.com" and REALTORS use, so you have real-time data (updated every hour!) of all homes available on the MLS.
Q:
What exactly is BirdsEyeSearch.com, and how can it help me?
A:
BirdsEyeSearch.com takes a different approach to the home search process.
We think you are smart & savvy enough to do your own initial home purchasing research (and that you'd rather do it yourself), and we're happy to enable you as much as possible (and it's absolutely free!). That's why we've created this site, along with several others,
including ListingNotice.com and OnlyNewCondos.com,
to give you as much information as possible before you contact a Realtor.
BirdsEyeSearch.com is run by a real estate firm, DROdio Real Estate, Inc., which has been recognized by
many publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, Washington Business Journal, Forbes.com, The Discovery Channel, and many others for our innovative approach to real estate. Our feeling is,
you do as much of the up-front reasearch as you want without a Realtor bugging you, and when you're ready, we'll be here to assist you through the part of the process where we really can add value: making an offer,
writing a contract, and safely sheparding the transaction through to closing.
So, use our BirdsEyeSearch.com website to enjoy a no-pressure, low stress way to start your home search!
Q:
How do I use BirdsEyeSearch.com to search?
A:
The easiest way is to use the blue input bars at the top to specify your search criteria, and then hit the "search now" button.
In the "Search This Area" box you can enter a city and state (like "Arlington, VA") or you can enter a zip code (like 22206).
You can also click the advanced search option on the right side to show you some further ways of refining your search.
Then, you'll see a bunch of red thumtacks on the map as results. Try clicking on them to see what happens!
Here's a trick once you've mastered the basics: The map border defines your search area, so you can zoom in to a specific area (even a specific neighborhood) you want to search using the map's "zoom slider" (top-left corner of the map), and once you've zoomed in,
run your search again (this time just keep the blue "Search This Area" field empty, since you've defined it directly on the map).
You can also zoom in by just clicking anywhere on the map (instead of using the map's "zoom slider"). And you can also move the map around by "clicking and dragging" the map
with your mouse.

Q:
Your service is great, but I'm not too familiar with the area. How can I find some of these houses so I can drive by them & take a look?
A:
That's easy! We offer a free GPS loaner machine to anyone who's searching for a home. Just visit DROdio.com/GPS for details.
Q:
Is there any fee for using this service?
Q:
Then how do you make money?
A:
We are a real estate firm with a different & progressive view on how real estate should be bought & sold. Instead of "lording over you" like some Realtors might, we'd rather enable you with knowledge, and if you choose
to have us represent you, great. When you buy a house, it doesn't cost you any extra to have a Realtor represent you (the seller's agent pays us from his proceeds), so we figure, you might as well use us and get professional representation. But that's your choice, we're still happy
to give you full access to our tools even if you decide not to use us, because we're willing to bet you'll tell others about us too.
Q:
Is it possible to get a satellite view?
A:
Absolutely! Just click on the box that says "satellite" in the top-right corner of the map! You can also try the "hybrid" view.
Q:
Does BirdsEyeSearch.com work nationwide?
A:
Not yet - right now we're just in the Mid-Atlantic area (Northern VA, Washington DC, Maryland, and some of W.Va, PA and Delaware). But we're expanding, so please send us an email and tell us what area you'd like to see covered.
Q:
I see you are using Google maps. Are you part of Google?
A:
No, we are not affiliated with Google in any way, other than the fact that we're using their map through their mapping API. We do think Google is super cool, though, for allowing us to use their mapping technology!
Q:
My question isn't answered here. How do I get it answered?
A:
It's easy! Just send us an email and we'll respond quickly (i.e., hours not days!).
Q:
Is it possible to see Metro maps?
A:
We are looking into the possibility of overlaying metro maps directly onto BirdsEyeSearch, but until we do, you can go over to the Metro website and look at where the metro stops are on their Google map!
